BRIDGE TO EXCELLENCE

Glendale Community College (GCC) is known for its bridges, connecting the campus in a seamless flow throughout the hills and valleys of the college’s physical footprint. These bridges create a dynamic community of teachers and students striving together for excellence in all that they do.

GCC also provides bridges for students to overcome challenges – educational, financial, and social.

At GCC, no gap is too large and no dream goes unfulfilled. At the core of the college’s mission is the belief that one of life’s greatest achievements is to realize one’s best possible self. It is this mindset that inspires our students to serve the world with passion, inquiry, and resiliency.

By offering a transformative educational experience, the college helps students grow, learn and thrive together, their lives forever connected by the spirit of community that defines GCC.

Glendale College Foundation (GCF) is rooted in this connected community and committed to overcoming any gap, no matter how wide. With valued input from its board, the GCC Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and other constituents, has unveiled a strategic program and facility funding plans.

Connecting mind, body, and soul, the Science, Athletics and Performing & Media Arts buildings are a vital part of the college’s master plan.

In the newly-retrofitted Athletic building, honoring the legacy of coaches through group naming opportunities will help showcase the important role they have played in the lives of their student-athletes. Naming the football stadium and basketball court after John Cicuto and Brian Beauchemin highlights how they have instilled the importance of leadership, character and teamwork, which stays with students through their personal and professional lives.

The Science building will empower students to search for knowledge of the physical and material world with tools and equipment designed to help faculty teach in new and innovative ways, while students receive leading-edge experience. Glendale Community College has a long history of graduating successful scientists who have continued their journey to work as science and healthcare professionals. Advanced technology is needed to equip this new progressive facility. Imagine performing experiments with state-of-the-art wireless scientific instruments in Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Sciences, with anatomage tables and a multimedia microplate reader. Students will learn science through the lens of digital camera microscopes and 3-D and Anatomy/Microbiology holograms. Telescopes, infrared spectrometers, a 3-D printer, webcams, and tablets will provide our faculty and students with equipment that may quite possibly change the world.

The Performing & Media Arts building will offer leading-edge classes to prepare students for emerging careers in performing arts and the digital arena. Key to this initiative will be expanding upon the connection to the local entertainment industry of Southern California.

All of these state-of-the-art facilities and programs will make GCC more competitive in attracting and retaining the best and the brightest faculty, staff, and students and providing the best trained workforce for the community and region.

As part of the capital campaign, each of the three programs will benefit from having an endowment established so that they can fund future equipment and program needs.

Restricted & Unrestricted Gifts
Gifts of any size may be designated for a specific campaign goal or made without restrictions. Unrestricted gifts have the advantage of enabling Glendale College Foundation to allocate the funds where they are most needed.

Gifts of Cash & Securities
Most gifts to the campaign will be cash contributions. Pledges to the campaign may be paid over a period of up to three years. We also invite gifts of appreciated securities.

Named Gifts
To inspire transformational gifts, GCF is offering naming opportunities that allow donors to link their support to specific initiatives and hallmark programs and facilities.

Planned Gifts
Glendale College Foundation welcomes planned gifts directed to the capital campaign, including trusts, bequests, gifts of fully paid whole life insurance policies, and qualified retirement plan assets.

The Student Success Fund
Throughout the campaign, GCF will continue to solicit gifts for The Annual Fund, the College’s most dependable, flexible, and impactful source of unrestricted support.

Gifts to the Bridge to Excellence campaign may be pledged and are payable withing three years.

Our bond campaign, Measure GC, passed by voters in 2016, provided funding to retrofit the Athletics building and to construct the Science and Performing/Media Arts facilities, but fully equipping them requires additional funds, thus the Bridge to Excellence Appeal for Glendale Community College.

Just a few years ago, our residents placed their trust in the college by passing Measure GC and construct new facilities, where even more dynamic teaching and learning can take place.
