Some of the major goals are to increase:

  • Certificate and degree completion
  • English and math completion of transfer-level courses in their first year
  • The number of students receiving the College Promise Grant, Pell Grant, and AB540
  • The transfer rate
  • The number of students who take nine or more units in career education
  • The number of students who attain a regional living wage
  • Sense of Belonging

In addition to the overall goals, each Success Team designates their own based on the needs of their students’ such as:

  • Creating a portfolio
  • Auditioning for a role
  • Interning at a health facility
  • Volunteering in the community, etc.

Key Achievements

  • Created events and experiences that nurture a sense of belonging
  • Workshops on careers/majors to increase social and academic cultural capital
  • Over 13,000 credit and noncredit students enrolled in the Success Teams virtual spaces
  • Bringing all components of campus together to collaborate and break down silos
  • Normalize and encourage help-seeking behavior
  • Increased degree and certificate completion rates by providing just-in-time information to students

Current Status

  • Virtual spaces are open for all Learning Professional Pathways
  • Approximately 90% of credit students are enrolled in Success Team virtual spaces
  • Engaging with all credit and noncredit students
  • Analyzing data from a DEIA perspective
  • Cross-functional collaboration with instructional and counseling faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and classified staff

Future Developments of Success Teams

  • Scaling student in-reach about degree and certificate completion
  • Continuously improving from student feedback
  • More access to data
  • Further integration and best practices from all areas of campus
  • Fully institutionalize
  • Guidance toward possible campus reorganization around LPPs
  • Physical spaces
  • Vision for a unified communications platform
