If you’ve attended a non-U.S. high school where English wasn’t the main language-of-instruction, or if your primary language spoken has not been English, you may find the ESL pathway is a better option for you.
Courses in Levels 3, 4, and 5 are transfer-level.
Courses in Levels 1 and 2 are pre-transfer level and may have corequisites. Speaking with a counselor is recommended.
To help determine which level of ESL course is right for you, GCC faculty have developed an ESL placement tool.
Self Placement Survey (SPS)
The ESL SPS is a set of questions that will help you choose where to start by guiding you to select the grammar & writing and listening & speaking level that is right for you.
Step 2: Helpful resources to help you access the SPS.
