The Fitness Specialist Certificate and Associate of Science Degree is designed to prepare you to become a fitness professional who can work with individual clients and groups, and provide them with safe, effective, evidence-based exercise programs. We work with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) to provide student-discounts on their exams for Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Group Fitness Instructor (GFI). Practical experience is the heart of this program: students will get experience from hands-on labs where they practice fitness assessments, program design, and coaching skills with volunteer clients. We also offer internships with local fitness studios and gyms to help you further develop your skills and professional network. It's recommended to have basic knowledge of human biology, basic English writing and speaking skills, and the ability to perform moderate physical activity before beginning this program. We aim to foster an inclusive learning environment and advocate for fitness for EVERYONE - so join us on your journey into the fitness industry!
