This certificate prepares students to operate, program, and set up 3-axis CNC milling machines used in precision manufacturing. Students learn how to read technical drawings, select materials, and apply the correct machining processes to produce accurate, high-quality parts. The certificate also emphasizes safety protocols, programming using CAM software, CNC machine setup and machining, and part inspection. Graduates are prepared for careers in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical device manufacturing, and general machining, where they can work as CNC machinists, operators, or programmers.

The Certificate is granted to students who have completed the requisite units outlined in the major requirements with at least 6 semester units of the required courses at Glendale Community College. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade.

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, students will be able to demonstrate safe and appropriate part handling for advanced milling work; utilize and demonstrate advanced programming with Mastercam Mill; verify accuracy of program keystrokes using backplot; and perform computer machining programs with precision and accuracy using a range of techniques.
