The certificate in Creative Writing provides a comprehensive foundation in the study and practice of Creative Writing. This certificate also meets the needs of those in the community who wish to express their imagination, think critically, or enter the job market in fields that require knowledge of critical thinking and writing principles. Students develop competency in the ability to write clearly and thoughtfully, as well as to revise their written work. Additionally, students gain advanced reading and comprehension skills, and are exposed to multi-cultural texts and resources.

The Certificate is granted to students who have completed at least 12 semester units of the required courses at Glendale Community College. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade.

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to demonstrate increased reading and writing comprehension of English; demonstrate creative and critical thinking as it applies to writing and reading; and demonstrate increased knowledge the principles of Creative Writing.
