This certificate is designed to help students seeking a pathway into the film and television industry. Students will develop the ability to work effectively as a member of a production team while honing skills needed to complete high quality film and television productions. They will gain a breadth of knowledge and understanding of cinematic language necessary for film and tv production. These film and tv courses are designed to help students learn the craft and technique of film language, production design, composition, lighting techniques, sound design, picture editing.

The Certificate is granted to students who have completed the requisite units outlined in the major requirements with at least 6 semester units of the required courses at Glendale Community College. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade.

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to Demonstrate an effective ability to work as a member of a team to achieve the challenges of technical and conceptual goals of the project from origination to the completion of the high quality final deliverable media productions; demonstrate an understanding of film aesthetics composition, film language, lighting and sound techniques to support the creative vision of the director; and demonstrate mastery of conceptual editing techniques to support storytelling and solving story problems through the use of editing dialogue, sound design, music, and sound effects to complete the creation of the master for final deliverables.
