This certificate is designed to train students seeking a pathway into the lighting or grip department in the film and television industry. Students will develop the ability to work effectively as a member of a grip or lighting department in production team while honing skills needed to complete high quality film and television productions.

The Certificate is granted to students who have completed the requisite units outlined in the major requirements with at least 6 semester units of the required courses at Glendale Community College. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade.

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, the student will demonstrate an effective ability to work as a member of a lighting or grip production team to achieve the challenges of technical and conceptual goals of the project from origination to the completion of the high quality final deliverable media productions; demonstrate an understanding of composition, film language and lighting techniques to support the creative vision of the director.
