This certificate is designed for students who intend to seek employment in a Human Resources department in private industry or in a governmental agency (e.g. city, county, state, school district, etc.). This coursework will help to prepare students for entry-level positions with job titles such as HR Assistant, HR Clerk, HR Technician, etc. This coursework also helps prepare students for the Professional Human Resources Certification and Senior Professional Human Resources Certification (SHRM) examinations.

The Certificate is granted to students who have completed the requisite units outlined in the major requirements with at least 6 semester units of the required courses at Glendale Community College. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade.

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, students will be able to apply the principles and methods involved in the recruitment, selection and placement of employees with regard to affirmative action programs, training, experience and aptitudes; and model techniques of effective customer and employee relations.
