Registered nursing practice is a licensed occupation, which is regulated by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). This curriculum qualifies the student for an Associate in Science degree with a major in Nursing. Graduates are eligible to apply for the California R.N. licensing examination (NCLEX-RN). This is a full-time program of study. In addition to courses required by the nursing major, graduation requirements established by the college must be met to earn the Associate in Science degree. Students must meet all prerequisite requirements and be formally accepted to the Nursing program prior to taking first semester classes.

The Associate of Science degree is granted to students who have completed at least 12 semester units of the required 60-degree applicable semester units at Glendale Community College. The required 60 semester units must include all of the following: (1) Completion of the courses required in the major or area of emphasis with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade. (2) Completion of one of the following general education patterns: GCC General Education Requirements or the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) requirements. (3) A minimum GPA of 2.0 in the required 60 semester units.

The Certificate is granted to students who have completed at least 12 semester units of the required courses at Glendale Community College. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better, or a “P” grade.

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, students will be able to acquire employment in the field of registered nursing within one year of completing the nursing program; complete the nursing program with the requisite knowledge of the discipline including evidenced-based practice within a required time frame; and demonstrate requisite knowledge of the profession of registered nursing by successfully passing the NCLEX-RN
