MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement)

MESA is for Calculus-based STEM students who meet the following eligibility:

  • Declare a calculus-based major in math, science, or engineering (see specific list below)
  • Plan to take two consecutive STEM courses after pre-calculus and Calculus I
  • Are educationally impacted, for example:
    • First-generation in college student
    • Parents do not have a BA or higher  
  • Are economically impacted, for example:
    • receiving CCC Promise grant fee waiver
    • receiving Pell grant and or financial aid
  • Plan to transfer to a four-year institution (must not already hold a Bachelor's degree)
  • Be a U.S. citizen, resident, or AB 540/DACA
  • GPA of 2.2 or higher

IF you are a Calculus-based STEM Student if you are majoring in any of the following:
Biology | Biochemistry | Chemistry | Computer Science | Engineering | Math | Physics | Pre-Med | Geology

MESA INTEREST FORM/APPLICATION Workshops & Tutoring schedule FOR MESA FACULTY

Once you are a MESA member, you must complete the following to continue to be considered a full MESA member:

  • 2.2 or higher GPA (per semester)
  • Attend at least 3 Academic Excellence workshops (per semester)
  • Meet with MESA counselor at least once (per semester)
  • Complete a Progress Report (per semester)
  • Have an updated Student Educational Plan (SEP)
  • Apply to at least one scholarship or summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) (per year)

After you complete the MESA Application, please allow at least 2-3 weeks for processing. If you are eligible to become a fully qualified MESA student, you will be invited to meet with the MESA Program Director or counselor for an intake interview where your application will be reviewed, and MESA program services will be discussed.
