Learn about information and its impact on society throughout millennia by becoming a participant-observer in this three-week field studies program to Armenia. In addition to Yerevan, you’ll visit iconic cities, including Goris, Sisian, Echmiatzin, Gyumri, and Sevan.

You’ll learn how information technology developed over centuries, starting with pre-writing and oral traditions; how censorship, mis/disinformation, and the sociopolitical and cultural influences of surrounding countries shape present-day Armenia; and experience, first-hand, cultural artifacts (including UNESCO sites) and intangible cultural heritage (some of which appear on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list).

Earn three transferable units while developing critical thinking skills through a critical-lens analysis of Armenian culture, food, music, artifacts, cultural knowledge, and how society evolves with innovations in information technology.
