Flavio Frontini is originally from Bologna, Italy, but has lived in Los Angeles since 1990. He is passionate about his culture and loves to teach his first language at Glendale College. Some of his interests include food (yes Italian), both eating and cooking, traveling, art, classical music, and opera. He earned a B.A. in Italian and a M.A. in Italian Literature at U.C.L.A., and is credited with co-editing the book La lotta con Proteo : metamorfosi del testo e testualità della critica.

Flavio Frontini describes himself to his students as the “crazy” professor for the informal style he uses to conduct his classes, since he believes that laughter can be the best way to learn. He also encourages students to not be afraid of making mistakes in class as it is something that happens to everyone and it is a necessary part of the learning process, this helps the students feel more at ease and are then eager to participate in class discussions, often becoming as crazy as he is! Aside from learning the grammar and vocabulary of a new language, the students gain an understanding of the Italian culture helping them to compare and contrast with their own cultures. He has been leading GCC Study Abroad Programs to Italy since 2005 and he will soon be taking another group of students there in Winter 2020.

Mr. Frontini is the proud recipient of the 2007 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award for his outstanding leadership and teaching skills.

Flavio Frontini is currently the Chair of the Foreign Language Department at GCC.
