Sara Sadeghilar

I have been working with English language learners for over 20 years. I earned my Masters degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from San Jose State University. I am also CELTA certified from Cambridge University, London.

Before joining Glendale Community College, I taught English at UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, San Jose State University, Harker School, and ELS Language School. In addition, I have done some volunteer teaching at San Jose State university and Day Worker Centers in the Bay Area.

My professional career also includes research on enhancing learning through technology and exploring ways to better accommodate the needs of my students. With a focus on integrating face-to-face classroom interactions and online learning platforms, I use multiple platforms and technology tools to ensure my students’ success. I have been collaborating with the Noncredit ESL Division at GCC to create models for Mastery Based Grading and other authentic assessment strategies. I am enthusiastic to implement the concept of Mastery Learning in my teaching to promote equity and ensure student success.

In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, hiking, biking, reading, going to live music events, trying new restaurants, and of course spending time with my pup, Plato. I am passionate about my profession and feel at home with other fellow International students.
