Course Design Academies and POCR Incentive Opportunity!

If you are a faculty member interested in earning an incentive for participating in
the Peer Online Course Review (POCR) process to align your 100% fully online asynchronous
DE course with the Online Education Initiative (OEI) Course Design Rubric* so that
it can be offered in the California Statewide CVC-OEI Course Exchange**, please complete
the POCR Application. Please note that remote and Hybrid courses are not accepted into the CVC-OEI Course Exchange - only
fully online asynchronous DE courses.
Up to four (4) faculty will be accepted to receive a $3,000 stipend to align their
courses during the Spring 2026 semester. The following three things must be completed
for payment of incentive to be made:
- GCC POCR Self-Paced OEI Rubric Alignment Course workshops must be completed before
the Peer Review (usually around week 3 of the semester). These workshops will enable
faculty to become acquainted with the OEI rubric and POCR expectations. Participants
will engage in exercises designed to facilitate alignment across various sections
of the rubric.
- Course alignment process must be completed between February 2026-June 2026.
- A 1-hour DE focused professional development workshop must be scheduled.
Who is Eligible?
- Instructors have taught the course fully online, asynchronously, in Canvas for at
least one full term at Glendale College.
As a successful participant in, you will receive:
- A Quality Reviewed “Badge” for your aligned course that will help it rise to the top
of the student search results in the CVC-OEI Exchange!
- Confidential feedback and course design recommendations from fellow online faculty
through Peer Online Course Review.
- Support from an Instructional Designer to assist you in applying your feedback and
getting the most from your course.
- Hands-on assistance, as needed, from Accessibility Specialists to make your course
fully 508 compliant!
- The satisfaction of teaching a course that has met the CVC-OEI’s highest level of
design standards of quality and accessibility to support online student success!
- A $3,000 stipend for your aligned and Quality Reviewed “Badge” online course.
What Next?
- Submit an application for the POCR incentive.
- The Lead POCR, Nune Dervishian (ndervishian@glendale.edu) will create a MasterShell for you to import your course. If the course is selected
for POCR review, you will receive an invitation to join an onboarding meeting during
the intersession.
- To be eligible for alignment and badging, participants must complete the modules in
the GCC POCR Self-Paced OEI Rubric Alignment Course. This series of concise workshops
is designed to guide you toward achieving alignment. Access will be granted upon selection.
Applications are due by Friday, December 12, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.
Applications will be reviewed by the POCR team and the Dean of Library and Learning
Support Services to determine if the proposed course contributes to our course offering
obligation to the CVC-OEI.
The Dean of Library and Learning Support Services will contact you about participation
in this POCR opportunity.

If you feel like the GCC Course Design Academy is not the right fit, and if you don't
qualify for the POCR Incentive Opportunity through GCC, you can work directly with
the CVC-OEI to align and badge your course. You will work with a reviewer from the
CVC to complete this process.
California Virtual College-Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) Course Design Academy
will assist you in aligning your online course to the Course Design Rubric to earn
a “Quality Reviewed” Badge for cross-listing in the state's CVC-OEI Exchange. (Listing
in the State exchange increases enrollment as your classes become available throughout
California on one centralized enrollment site. GCC still gets the credit!)
