Cal Grant
Cal Grants are California state-funded grants that help eligible students pay for
college expenses. Unlike loans, Cal Grants do not need to be repaid.
Students are automatically considered for most Cal Grant programs when they submit
a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) and meet California Student Aid
Commission (CSAC) eligibility requirements.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for a Cal Grant, students must generally:
-
Submit a FAFSA or CADAA by the applicable deadline
-
Be a California resident or eligible AB 540 student
-
Meet income and asset requirements established by CSAC
-
Be enrolled in at least 6 units at the time of disbursement
-
Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Some Cal Grant programs may have additional eligibility requirements.
Award Amount
Cal Grant award amounts vary based on:

Important Information
Students attending Glendale Community College must be enrolled in at least 6 units
to receive a Cal Grant disbursement.
Students on a Financial Aid Academic Plan or Contract may only receive aid based on
courses approved as part of their plan. Enrollment in courses outside the approved
plan may not count toward financial aid eligibility.
Students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA or CADAA as early as possible to maximize
their eligibility for state aid programs.
Student with Dependents
Students who have dependent children may qualify for additional Cal Grant benefits
through the California Student Aid Commission.
If selected, students may be required to certify their dependent status through WebGrants
for Students (WG4S). Failure to complete required certifications may delay Cal Grant
disbursement.
