Students who complete the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) may be considered for a variety of state and institutional aid programs, including grants, scholarships, and fee waivers. Explore the financial aid opportunities below to learn more about the programs available to CADAA-eligible students.

California College Promise Grant (CCPG)

The California College Promise Grant (CCPG) is a state-funded program that waives enrollment fees for eligible California Community College students.

Unlike other forms of financial aid, CCPG specifically covers enrollment fees and does not need to be repaid.

Students only need to apply once each academic year. Eligibility is determined through the CCPG application or financial aid application information on file with the college.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for CCPG, students must:

  • Be a California resident or meet AB 540 eligibility requirements
  • Be enrolled at a California Community College
  • Meet income or benefit eligibility requirements established by the State of California, or
  • Demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA)

Important Information

CCPG waives enrollment fees only and does not cover other educational expenses such as books, supplies, parking, or transportation costs.

Students must maintain eligibility requirements each academic year and reapply annually to continue receiving CCPG benefits.

Students who qualify for certain public assistance programs may also qualify for additional CCPG benefits.

Learn More

Contact the GCC Financial Aid Office for additional information about CCPG eligibility and application requirements.

CCPG A

Available to students who receive qualifying public assistance benefits, such as CalWORKs (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or General Relief. Students must provide a copy of a current benefit check or notification of eligibility.

CCPG B

Availability is based on state mandated income ceilings.

CCPG C

Available to students who do not meet the criteria for CCPG A or CCPG B, but demonstrate financial need of at least $1104 based on information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA).

The Financial Aid Office will determine the appropriate CCPG category based on the information provided on your application and supporting documentation.

Cal Grant

Cal Grants are California state-funded grants that help eligible students pay for college expenses. Unlike loans, Cal Grants do not need to be repaid.

Students are automatically considered for most Cal Grant programs when they submit a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) and meet California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a Cal Grant, students must generally:

  • Submit a FAFSA or CADAA by the applicable deadline

  • Be a California resident or eligible AB 540 student

  • Meet income and asset requirements established by CSAC

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 units at the time of disbursement

  • College attendance costs

  • Availability of state funding

Types of Cal Grants

Cal Grant A

Cal Grant A provides assistance with tuition and fee costs for eligible students attending a University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), or qualifying private institution.

For students attending a California Community College, Cal Grant A awards are typically held in reserve until the student transfers to a four-year institution.

Cal Grant B

Cal Grant B provides financial assistance to students with financial need.

Students may receive:

  • An access award to help pay for educational expenses such as books, supplies, and transportation

  • Additional tuition and fee assistance when attending a qualifying four-year institution

Cal Grant C

Cal Grant C supports students enrolled in eligible career education, occupational, or technical training programs.

Awards may help cover:

  • Books and supplies

  • Equipment and training-related expenses

  • Tuition and fees for qualifying programs

Important Information

Students attending Glendale Community College must be enrolled in at least 6 units to receive a Cal Grant disbursement.

Students on a Financial Aid Academic Plan or Contract may only receive aid based on courses approved as part of their plan. Enrollment in courses outside the approved plan may not count toward financial aid eligibility.

Students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA or CADAA as early as possible to maximize their eligibility for state aid programs.

Student with Dependents

Students who have dependent children may qualify for additional Cal Grant benefits through the California Student Aid Commission.

If selected, students may be required to certify their dependent status through WebGrants for Students (WG4S). Failure to complete required certifications may delay Cal Grant disbursement.
