Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum

Students who began at GCC prior to Fall 2025 can follow the IGETC requirements, so long as they maintain continuous enrollment (have catalog rights). This pattern will not be updated beyond the 2024-2025 academic year.

For students following IGETC, courses taken in Fall 2025 or later can be applied toward IGETC certification, so long as:

• The student has maintained continuous enrollment and has catalog rights to follow the IGETC requirements
• The course is approved in the same Cal-GETC area when it is completed

What is IGETC?

The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is recommended for community college students who plan to transfer to either the UC system or the CSU system and want to complete the lower division coursework for general education.

The IGETC may be a suitable option for students who are unsure if they want to transfer to a CSU or UC campus and wish to keep their options open.
