Welcome to Glendale College!

We encourage all new students to Glendale College to follow the pre-enrollment steps outlined in their Welcome email: complete the online orientation, review English/ESL and math placements, and meet with an academic counselor to discuss their academic goals and prepare a one- or two-semesters, short-term education plan (SEP).

Please review below guidelines for each type of new students enrolling this term and follow the directions matching your type.

First time college students must complete all pre-enrollment steps:

New Student Orientation - The online orientation is an interactive program designed to prepare students for a successful academic career at Glendale College and to inform them about academic and support services designed to ease the transition into a college environment.

English/ESL and Math Placement - Please refer to the information on the Placement Center webpage and review your placement in your student account Enrollment/Course History.

Student Education Plan (SEP) - The SEP is a personalized, term-by-term outline of all major, general education, and elective classes related to each student's educational goal, including graduation and/or transfer requirements. New students will be able to discuss and set-up their short-term, first semesters ed plan (abbreviate SEP) during a drop-in counseling meeting - no appointment required - or during a counseling appointment (call (818) 240-1000 Ext. 5918 for appointment).

Completion of these steps prior to the deadlines below will allow new students to enroll during priority registration periods: Please check Academic Calendar for priority registration periods.

Students with prior college coursework at Glendale College or other community college are encouraged to follow the pre-enrollment guidelines if they plan to complete a certificate or graduate from GCC.

Student will be required to submit official transcript(s) to the Admissions office in order to receive credit for prior coursework.

Students who need to clear prerequisite they may submit the Request to Clear Prerequisite form and an unofficial transcript by email to counseling@glendale.edu or to the drop-in counselor.

English/ESL and Math placements are waived if students completed college level courses and clear those prerequisites.

Creating a student education plan (abbreviated SEP) is only required for students new to GCC looking for access to priority registration.

Four-year university students/graduates do not have to complete any of the pre-enrollment steps. If they need to clear prerequisites before registration they have to submit the Request to Clear Prerequisite form and an unofficial transcript by email to counseling@glendale.edu or to the counselor during the drop-in meeting.

Students taking classes for personal enrichment do not have to complete any of the pre-enrollment steps. If they need to clear prerequisites before registration they have to submit the Request to Clear Prerequisite form and an unofficial transcript by email to counseling@glendale.edu or to the counselor during the drop-in meeting.

Please call the Counseling office M-Th between 8am and 5pm, and Fr 9am to 3pm at (818) 240-1000 Ext. 5918 to make a counseling appointment or visit glendale.edu/onlinecounseling webpage looking for the drop-in counseling link and connecting with a counselor online.
