UC TAG APPLICATION

Six UC campuses offer guaranteed admission for the fall term:
Davis, Irvine, Merced*, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz.

*Merced also offers guaranteed admission for the spring semester.

NOTE: Berkeley, Los Angeles, and San Diego do not participate in TAG.

The TAG application is free.

The UC TAG application filing period is September 1 - September 30, 2025 for Fall 2026 admission.

The UC TAG application filing period is May 1 - May 31, 2026 for Spring 2027 admission.

  • Some majors are excluded from TAG (see TAG Matrix); however, you may still apply for these majors through regular admission.

  • You can only apply for TAG to one UC campus, but can apply to as many UCs as you want. To keep your options open, apply to other UC campuses during the regular UC application cycle.

  • Meet with a GCC transfer counselor to ensure that you are meeting or will meet the TAG requirements according to the major and UC you will TAG.

  • Once your TAG is submitted, fulfill all remaining coursework and GPA requirements designated in your TAG agreement.

  • All TAG applicants must complete minimum UC admission requirements by the end of the spring term prior to transfer for fall admission, or by the end of the fall term for winter/spring admission, unless otherwise indicated.

  • In addition to submitting a TAG application, all TAG applicants must submit a UC admission application.

  • The UC admission application for fall opens August 1st, but cannot be submitted until October 1 - December 1. The UC admission application filing period for winter/spring is July 1 - July 31.

  • Your major on your TAG application must be same as on your UC application for the UC campus you TAG. If not, your TAG application will be voided and you will be reviewed for regular admission (without a guarantee).

  • Students are strongly encouraged to consult with a transfer counselor to ensure they are meeting campus TAG requirements prior to completing and submitting the TAG application.

  • International students with foreign coursework are eligible for TAG.
